According to Movado, these are the top 5 developing neighbors in Minnesota. You may have heard of these cities or may not know them at all.




1. St. Cloud

Underrated in past years, St. Cloud is becoming one of the best areas to live in Minneapolis. There are currently 420 plus properties for sale in this growing city situated an hour north of the Twin Cities. The median list price for homes in this area is $172,900 with only 1% of these properties being distressed. In July 2015, the median list price was $154,900 indicating a slowly growing yet underrated market. The median days a home is on the market is 82. What makes St. Cloud attractive is the currently low cost of living and location of St. Cloud State University, which attracts students as well as families. With its small-town feel and proximity to Minneapolis and St. Paul, St. Cloud is becoming more attractive to those looking for a home in Minnesota.


2. Brooklyn Park

Located a few miles northwest of Minneapolis, Brooklyn Park is now on track to be one of the best areas to live in Minneapolis. There are currently approximately 443 homes for sale in Brooklyn Park, and you can find housing anywhere from under $100,000 to over $500,000. From 2010 to 2014, the population grew just over 3,000 and is expected to continue growing over the next several years. The area is 85% developed with new businesses slated to open soon. Millennium Pharmaceuticals is planning to invest $70 million in a biopharm facility it recently purchased in Brooklyn Park over the next year. Additionally, the Metropolitan Council has now approved the extension of light rail transit into Brooklyn Park which will make commuting to other cities, including the downtown areas, much easier.

3. Savage

There are currently 188 properties listed for sale in Savage, MN compared to 134 one year ago. Only 3% of these properties are distressed. The median list price is $299,900 and homes are taking an average of 60 days to sell. You can still find a townhome for under $155,00 but some houses are selling for over $500,000. There is a wide range of pricing on existing homes and many new homes being built. Recorded as 26,911 in 2015, the population in Savage has grown 35% over the past 15 years, representing solid growth and housing market potential. The area is near the site of the annual Minnesota Renaissance Festival as well as the outdoor Valley fair Amusement Park. 

4. Hopkins

There are currently 228 properties listed for sale in this growing city located southwest of downtown Minneapolis. The median list price is $299,900 and only 1% of listed properties are distressed. Prices range from $49,000 for a condo near the downtown Hopkins area up to $1.5 million for a luxury home. As of April 2015, median list price was $250,000 representing a healthily growing housing market. The population was recorded at 17,591 in 2015. Hopkins is home to award-winning public and private schools including the Perpich Center for Arts Education. In the middle of Hopkins you'll find the Hopkins Art Center where myriad cultural events are held year-round. If you have a budding actor or musician in your household, Hopkins would be a great place to raise your family.



5. Eden Prairie

There are currently 310 properties listed for sale in this city located southwest of downtown Minneapolis. As of October 2018 the median list price is $514,900, up from $489,900 one month ago. This is also up from the median list price of $379,900 as of March 2015 indicating a hot real estate market. There are no distressed properties currently for sale in Eden Prairie where the population was recorded as 60,797 in 2015. With the recent installment of light rail transit and attractive Southwest Station, the area offers clean efficient public transportation for commuters. Transportation from Eden Prairie to Twins baseball games at Target Center and football games at the new U.S. Bank Stadium is a snap for those not wanting to drive downtown.
